Irishwoman reveals disgust after seeing man 'urinating in plastic bottle' on train between Dublin and Cork

A young woman has expressed her disgust after claiming she witnessed a man "urinating into a plastic bottle" during a train journey between two of Ireland's busiest stations.

The woman, whose first name is Erica, says she was travelling on the 3pm Irish Rail service between Dublin Heuston and Cork Kent.

Erica claims that she was enjoying the journey until she and her friend noticed a man sat opposite them who began urinating into an empty bottle.

Speaking on the 96FM Opinion Line with PJ Coogan she said: "A man got on and sat across from us and as soon as the train started to move, there was a really bad smell so everyone had their hands up by their face trying to block it out.

"Kind of halfway down to Cork, he had an empty bottle of a strawberry milkshake or milk and he just started urinating into the bottle even though he was fully capable of walking to the toilet, which was only about five steps away."

Erica's friend reported to Irish Rail staff that a man had urinated in a bottle from his seat.

And according to Erica, no cleaner came to remove the bottle after the man moved from his seat at Mallow.

She noted that the man did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol and revealed that he simply left the bottle behind him when he got off the train.

Erica added: "I'd say he knew that everyone was talking about him by the time we got to Mallow so I don't know if he got off or if he moved around the train because everyone started moving seats. Some people were getting off.

"I just didn't expect that carry-on to come out of someone. He just had a brown top on and black pants. The black pants were a bit stained but that could happen to anyone. He had a beard.

"He just left the bottle behind him which is unfair on the cleaners who have to come along and if they don't have gloves on and don't know what's in the bottle.

"He got off and left the bottle behind him. There's a lot of kids going up to Dublin on the train and you just don't know who's sitting on the seat."
