Irishwoman misses flight after four-hour bus journey from Limerick to Dublin Airport and driver gets lost

A dozy bus driver who got lost in Dublin Airport cost a woman almost €500 after she missed her flight home.

Limerick native Sarah Neville was returning to her home in Toronto on Thursday morning after taking the Bus Eireann Expressway service at 5:20am.

The bus was due to arrive at Dublin Airport at 8:40am, leaving Sarah with plenty of time to catch her 10:15am flight to Montreal, Dublin Live reports.

But she claims her journey turned into a nightmare after the driver didn't arrive at the airport until 9:25am and then got lost and had to ask passengers for directions.

Sarah said: "The bus seemed to have stopped at every possible bus stop on the way to the airport.

"After dropping passengers off at T2, the driver then got lost and then drove out of the airport to then drive back in, asking passengers for directions.

"The bus was scheduled to arrive at the airport at 8:40.

"The delay was not due to traffic but due to the bus driver not knowing where to go and not staying on top of the schedule."

Having arrived so late, Sarah claims that this meant she wasn't able to make her flight and was forced to fork out €456 for a new flight the next morning.

Fortunately, she had somewhere to stay for the night, saving her further expense.

Sarah said: "I’m lucky my brother lives in Meath, 15 minutes from the airport so at least I got some home comforts before taking off this morning."

Bus Eireann say they have been in contact with Sarah and are investigating the matter.
