An Irishwoman who died in a suspected murder-suicide in the US has been named as Joan Huber.

Ms Huber, 53, was found dead at her home in the state of Nevada on Thursday.

The Kerry native's husband Adam and her two sons, aged 16 and 17, also died in the incident.

The Reno Police Department are investigating the deaths.

It's believed all four people died from gunshot wounds. Their bodies were found at around 11am local time on Thursday.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said: “The Department of Foreign Affairs are aware of the case and are providing consular assistance.”

Police believe the deaths appear to be an isolated incident and that there was no threat to the wider community.

A spokesman for Reno Police said: “On March 4 2020 at approximately 1104 hours, Reno Police Officers responded to the 10000 blk of Canyon Country Ct, on a report of a deceased subject.

“Subsequent investigation revealed three other deceased subjects within the residence that are believed to be members of the same family who reside there."
