Irishman selected for Royal Carribbean 'Apprentice-ship' - which sees him get paid to travel the world

An Irishman has been chosen to travel the world testing out tourist experiences and get paid a healthy sum to do so.

Harry McNulty, 26, was selected from over 37,000 candidates across the UK and Ireland to travel around the world on a cruise ship testing out different experiences along the way.

The Dubliner applied for the Royal Carribbean 'Apprentice-ship' by sending them a montage of his globetrotting experiences.

The Irish travel enthusiast blew the panel of judges away with his entry.

"We're confident that Harry will be able to seek out extraordinary new shore experiences to share with the world and inspire our shore xcursion team to offer our guests even more incredible adventures at our destinations around the world."

It might look like normal semi from outside - but it's 'one of the UK's most gorgeous houses'

McNulty is well used to traveling the world playing with the Ireland national rugby sevens team, exploring the likes of Japan, Alaska, Europe and the Middle East.

Royal Carribbean were searching for a candidate to test out land based experiences from the different locations they travel to.

The professional rugby player will act as an apprentice to the cruise liners 'Instagrammer-in-chief', Russ Francis, who was hired after completing a similar 'intern-ship' programme in 2016.

Harry’s job ‘induction’ will be a little more glamorous than most, seeing him embark on an adrenaline-fuelled journey aboard Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas when she returns to the UK next month.

Whilst onboard, Harry will be tasked with trialling experiences ranging from the ship’s 40-foot-long surf simulator, FlowRider, to its bungee jump simulator SkyPad.

Ahead of the big adventure, Harry said: "This has come as a bit of a shock, but an amazing one.

"Even just to be included in the shortlist was a huge achievement, but to actually get the position out of 37,000 applicants is incredible.

"The chance to travel the world and inspire people by capturing content of extraordinary places - over half of which I've never been to - is the opportunity of a lifetime.

"I can't wait for the adventure to get started and give it everything that I've got."

McNulty will be paid €2,200 a week for the three week role.
