Irishman and daughter go viral on Twitter as friends mistake them for couple

An Irishman and his daughter have gone viral - as they were mistaken for a couple.

Proud dad Darren McCready uploaded a photo to social media of him and his two daughters in Spain.

He wrote on Facebook as he posted the picture: "Family Holidays Salou."

One pal was quick to jibe Darren by saying: "You're punching mate! Have a good one."

Another replied: "That's his wee girl." But Darren appeared to take the joke well, by replying: "Lol, cheers bud."

The post went viral after his daughter Sophie Lee, who was mistaken as his partner, took to Twitter with screenshots of the original upload as well as the comments.

She said "I don’t really know how to take this to be honest", in the tweet that has been liked over 18,000 times and retweeted on more than 1,200 occassions.

She added: "Safe to say I’ll never get a photo with my dad again."
