Irish wrestler given four-year ban for doping violation

Irish amateur wrestler Lisa Farrelly has been given a four-year ban for an anti-doping violation.

Sport Ireland and the Irish Amateur Wrestling Association confirmed the ban in a joint statement today.

A sample provided by Farrelly after her participation in the Irish Open on November 2 last year tested positive for banned substances stanozolol, methylhexaneamine and dimenthylpentylamine.

Sport Ireland imposed a four-year ban on the wrestler, commencing on December 4, 2019.

A statement from Sport Ireland said: "The Irish Amateur Wrestling Association and Sport Ireland today jointly announced that the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel determined that Lisa Farrelly committed an anti-doping rule violation.

"Lisa Farrelly has been sanctioned by a period of ineligibility of 4 years commencing on the 4th of December 2019. In a doping control test immediately following her participation at the Irish Open on the 2nd of November 2019, she provided a sample which tested positive for the presence of the following prohibited substances: epi-stanozolol glucuronide (stanozolol); 4-methylhexan-2-amine (methylhexaneamine), and 5-methylhexan-2-amine (1,4-dimethylpentylamine). Ms. Farrelly’s results from the 2nd of November 2019 are also disqualified.

"The hearing was held under Article 8 (Disciplinary Process) of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules and this announcement is made pursuant to Article 15 (Public Disclosure) of the Rules."
