Irish woman blows internet away with her 'life changing' hack for working on laptop outside in the sun

With Ireland basking in some glorious weather over the last couple of days, there are thousands who would've wished to work outdoors for a few hours.

But more often than not, we find ourselves with the same problem: having to squint our eyes to see whatever screen we have to work on.

That and the potential for sunburn are the two major dangers, with a good dollop of factor 50 fixing one of those issues.

There was no solution for the other problem - until now.

Irish author Andrea Mara took to Twitter to show her working setup while outside in the sunshine and how she managed to do so.

And all it takes is a cardboard box.

Mara tweeted: "Day two of our three-day heatwave is a good time to remember that putting your laptop in a cardboard box means you can see the screen and work outdoors."

And those in the replies were stunned by the ingenuity.

One person said: "Low tech solution to a high tech problem." with another adding "I bought the black storage box from Ikea and it does the same trick perfectly"

A third just marveled at the idea, saying: "Life-changing tip here."

"Well this might be the most genius invention I’ve ever seen!" mused a fourth.

But as a couple of other users pointed out, there were some safety tips which needed to be added.

One helpful reply said: "Leave the back open for airflow and make sure the laptop isn't exposed to the sun - it's not just people who overheat in this weather"

Though we bathed in the heat over the weekend, things will take a drastic change soon.

Met Eireann have forecast a sudden change in our weather on Wednesday as "heavy and thundery" rain is set to lash parts of Ireland.

Expert Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather explained that there is a risk of thunder and "torrential" rain with spot flooding in places on Wednesday.
