Irish, Welsh and Scottish rugby get involved in bizarre Spice Girls themed pun-off

The Irish, Welsh and Scottish rugby teams got involved in a bizarre Spice Girls themed pun-off today.

The girl band played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Monday night following on from their tour opener at Croke Park last Friday.

But when the stadium's Twitter account announced on the day of the gig that the band would be leaving the roof open, it sparked a string of jokes/puns.

Principality Stadium tweeted: "After a much lauded opening night Croke Park the Spice Girls have decided to leave the roof open at Principality Stadium tonight, saying: ‘the show has been designed as an outdoor show, so this will work best’."

Irish Rugby then responded: "Yeah, but they're not facing Alun Wyn Jones are they?" in reference to the mammoth performance from the Welsh second row in their victory over Ireland in this year's Six Nations.

This sparked a flurry of Spice Girls themed stuff with the Welsh Rugby, Scottish Rugby and the Guinness Six Nations account all getting in on the act.
