Irish weather: Met Eireann posts five day forecast and hint at when mini-heatwave will end

Ireland will be hotter than Ibiza on Easter Monday as a mini-heatwave looks set to continue.

Last week, Met Eireann predicted that temperatures would drop to 12C on Monday.

However, the national forecaster now says parts of the country will see highs of 22C - making it warmer than the Spanish island.

A spokesman said: "It will be warm and dry tomorrow in most areas with spells of sunshine.

"It may stay rather dull along some south and southeast coasts with fog patches.

"Also, a few isolated showers will develop in the afternoon and evening.

"Highest temperatures will range between 18C to 22C, but it will be cooler along south and southeast coasts with 14 to 17 degrees.

"Southeast winds will be mostly moderate and locally fresh near some coasts."

Monday night

Monday night will be warmer than previous nights, with lowest temperatures to range between 8C and 10C.

It should be another mostly dry night apart from some outbreaks of rain.

A spokesman added: "Monday night will be dry apart from a few scattered outbreaks of rain. Lowest temperatures of 8C to 10C in light southeast breezes."

Despite previously forecasting a dramatic drop in the temperatures early this week, Met Eireann now say it could be as warm as 18C until Wednesday.

"There will be sunny spells and just a few showers. Winds will be light easterly.

"Tuesday night will be mild with temperatures no lower than 9C to 12C. Showery rain will develop overnight in many parts.

Wednesday

"Wednesday will see showers or longer spells of rain with highest temperatures of 13C to 18C."

Thursday
