Ireland could be battered by snow and thunder showers on Sunday as temperatures get set to plunge.
Met Eireann has warned that there's a risk of snow hitting the north and west by the end of the week.
Weather chiefs also say wintry showers may turn thundery on Sunday night.
And temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 0C overnight.
A forecaster said: "Cold, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, most of the showers in Connacht, west Ulster and west Munster, some turning to sleet later, with a risk of snow showers, mainly over high ground in the west and north.
"Daytime highs will range from 4C to 8C, in moderate southwesterly breezes, freshening later.
"Sunday night will be very cold, with clear spells and scattered showers, most of them in the western half of the country.
"Many of the showers will be wintry and there is a risk of thunder, mainly in Atlantic coastal areas.
"There will be lows of 0C to 3C, with a risk of frost and icy patches."
The national forecaster said early indications suggest the weather will become milder from midweek, but it will remain unsettled.
Meanwhile, Friday and Saturday will be cool with highs of 10C forecast for both days.
It will be mostly cloudy over the 48 hour period, with the off sunny spell. It's expected to get wetter later on Saturday as a "band of more persistent rain" come in from the west.
