Irish weather forecast: Wet Wednesday ahead with heavy showers causing 'poor driving conditions' in places

It has been a wet start to Wednesday with forecasters warning heavy showers will create "poor driving conditions" in parts of the country.

AA Roadwatch Ireland are advising motorists to reduce their speed while driving in wet conditions.

Munster and Leinster will see widespread rain this morning however, it will be mainly dry in the northwest.

Met Eireann said: "The rain will be heaviest in eastern and southern coastal counties, with some poor driving conditions.

"Cold and breezy, top temperatures just 9C to 12C, and feeling cooler in the moderate to fresh and gusty northeasterly wind."
