Irish weather forecast: Warm, dry weekend ahead with highs of 25C expected

Get out the barbecue because this weekend is set to be a sizzler with highs of 25C expected.

A band of high pressure will bring sunny spells and soaring temperatures this weekend.

Meanwhile, we'll see highs of 22C today with sunny spells and scattered showers.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Mostly cloudy at first today with patchy rain or drizzle, which will clear eastwards this morning.

"Brighter weather will follow from the west. Sunny spells and scattered showers this afternoon, mainly in Ulster and Connacht.

"Less humid today with highest temperatures of 17C to 22C and moderate westerly breezes."

Looking ahead to Friday, it will be mainly dry with sunny spells.

However there'll be some scattered showers in north Connacht and in Ulster. These will become confined to east Ulster later with a few in north Leinster also.

Temperatures will hit highs of 22C in moderate northwest breezes.

Saturday will see temperatures soar to between 17C and 21C with light northerly breezes.

And Sunday will be even warmer with highs of 20C to 25C and mainly easterly breezes.
