Irish weather forecast: Temperatures to soar to 16C this weekend but wind and heavy rain to ruin sunshine

Temperatures are set to soar to 16C over the weekend, but a mix of wind and rain means sunshine will be kept away at times.

For those looking to get out of the house for some exercise, Saturday will be their best bet.

It will be mainly dry and cloudy, but a fresh breeze will maker it feel cooler than its forecasted highs of 13C.

Sunday will see the jump in heat, but sadly wind and rain will spoil any exercise in the sunshine.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Mainly dry today but cloudy with some patchy light rain or drizzle at times. Breezy too with freshening southeasterly breezes.

"Highest temperatures of 10C to 13C, mildest away from southern and eastern counties. Some sunny spells developing later this afternoon or early evening.

"Generally dry tonight with long clear spells. Staying breezy in fresh and gusty southeast winds. Relatively mild, with lows of 6C to 9C.

"Tomorrow will be a windy day, in fresh to strong and gusty southeast winds. Starting out largely dry and mild with some sunny spells.

"However, outbreaks of rain will feed into southern and western counties in the morning. Later in the day, rain will extend countrywide, with some heavy bursts during the evening.

"Humid and relatively mild, with highs of 12C to 16C, best values away from southern counties."
