Irish weather forecast: Temperatures to plunge to a freezing -3C tomorrow night but will soar to highs of 16C next week

Temperatures are set to drop to a freezing -3C tomorrow night but will rise to highs of 16C next week.

Met Eireann have revealed we're in for more chilly temperatures but we'll see a dramatic change next week, with highs of 16C expected on Monday.

And parts of Ireland will be as warm as Madrid in Spain where similar highs of 16C are expected on Monday.

Tuesday also looks set to be a mild day with highs of 11C to 14C.

The latest forecast from Met Eireann shows rain in all areas for a time tonight with cold and breezy conditions and some sleet on high ground.

The mercury will drop to a chilly 1C to 4C with frost in places.

Meanwhile, tomorrow will also be another cool, breezy and mostly cloudy day. Further rain in eastern areas in the morning, brighter elsewhere, with scattered rain or hail showers.

Further rain or showers in the afternoon and evening with a few heavy falls in places. Top temperatures 7C to 9C, in fresh and gusty northeasterly winds.

Wrap up warm on Thursday as it will be the coldest night of the week, with lows of 0C to -3C with frost in the south and east.

It will be slightly warmer in Connacht with lows of 1C to 4C.

Friday will start off cold with showery rain but there will be some bright spells in the afternoon.

Looking ahead to next week, a forecaster revealed we'll see some milder conditions.

They said: "The easterly flow looks set to continue into the early days of next week bringing a mix of dry bright weather and showers. The showers will be most prevalent over eastern counties.

"Monday looks to be the mildest day with highs of 13C to 16C, winds will become fresher on Tuesday bringing temperatures back to between 11C and 14C."
