Irish weather forecast: Sweltering temperatures continue but Met Eireann warns of thunder and frost this week

Sweltering temperatures are set to continue today but there is a big change on the way later this week, Met Eireann has warned.

The unseasonably mild conditions of the Easter weekend will remain on Tuesday, with highs of up to 21C expected in some places.

However this period of good weather is set to come to an end, as some frost and freezing overnight temperatures are predicted on Friday.

Parts of the country will also be battered by heavy and thundery rain on Wednesday and Thursday, as temperatures return to around the average for the time of year.
