Irish weather forecast: Showers to hit this afternoon despite warm temperatures

Showers are set to hit parts of Ireland this afternoon despite temperatures remaining high.

Rain in Munster is set to clear, but showers will become more widespread and heavy in the east and north this afternoon.

A Met Eireann spokesman said: "Rain in west Munster clearing this afternoon but further rain will affect parts of Ulster. Drier elsewhere, with bright or sunny spells and just scattered showers.

"But the showers will become more widespread this afternoon over the eastern half of the country, with some heavy ones possible.

"Top temperatures of 13 to 17C. Winds moderate northwesterly locally fresh along parts of the Atlantic Seaboard."
