Irish weather forecast: Scorching Saturday as temperatures soar to 20C

Temperatures are set to soar to 20C this afternoon as most of the country enjoys sunny spells.

But sadly, showers will arrive in parts of Ireland later this evening, bringing some bad weather for tomorrow.

A Met Eireann spokesman said: "This morning will be mainly dry with any mist or fog gradually clearing and sunny spells developing.

"Through the afternoon and evening, scattered showers will develop in Munster, south Leinster and Connacht.

"Highest temperatures of 16C to 20C, but cooler along north and northwest coasts with light north to northeast breezes.

"Tonight, there'll be some further scattered showers, but they'll mostly die out. It will become mostly cloudy in Connacht and Ulster overnight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 8C, coldest in north Ulster."

The forecaster added: "Sunday will be mostly cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle gradually extending southeastwards.

"Through the afternoon and evening, rain and drizzle will mainly affect Leinster and Munster. Sunny spells and a few showers will develop in the northwest. Cooler, with highs of 11C to 16C and light northerly breezes."

Monday looks set to be a cool and bright day with sunny spells and highs of 16C.

Tuesday on the other hand will be much cooler, with showers developing in the afternoon.

Later that night, persistent rain will rise north through the country.
