Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann warns of heavy rain and cold temperatures but not for long

The spell of cold weather is set to continue this week as Ireland will be hit by heavy rain.

Met Eireann has forecasted cold and windy days with persistent rain over the next few days.

Parts of the country will see hail showers with temperatures struggling to reach double digits over the next couple of days.

But the national weather forecaster has some good news as weather conditions will turn milder over the weekend.

Wednesday

Wednesday will see stiff northwest winds with a cold and fairly sunny morning.

But some hail or rain showers are expected mainly over Ulster, Connacht, and parts of Munster.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “But some heavy rain will develop in the northeast by lunchtime.

“Mostly cloudy this afternoon and evening, with that rain becoming more widespread. Top temperatures of 6C to 9C.”

Wednesday night will see rain in all areas with a “a slight risk of sleet on mountains”.
