Freezing cold nights are in store for Ireland - but temperatures are set to soar this weekend as a hot airstream is due to arrive.
Met Eireann is forecasting lows of 0C on Tuesday night, and it will be as cold as -2C on Wednesday night.
However, a 17C swing will see temperatures rise on Friday, with the weekend expected to be even warmer.
A spokesman said: "Continuing mainly dry on Friday, maybe a passing shower in the northwest through the morning.
"The best of the sunshine will also be in the morning with cloud increasing through the afternoon.
"Temperatures a little milder at 12 to 16 degrees. Dry overnight with some cloud around and lows of 2 to 6 degrees.
"Over the weekend turning a little warmer again as a southwesterly airstream sets in.
"Sunny spells will occur, though there is a risk of a little patchy rain at times, mainly in the north and west."
Meanwhile, Tuesday will be a nice day weather wise for many parts of the country.
The south is to get long sunny spells with highs of 15C, while other areas may experience more cloudy conditions.
The forecaster added: "The best of the sunshine will be in southern counties today with variable cloud elsewhere.
"It will be generally dry with a few showers, mainly across the northern counties.
"Highs of 10 to 15 degrees, mildest in the south, in light to moderate northerly winds."
They added: "Tonight will be dry in many areas with clear spells. Some showers will push into northern counties early in the night, but will soon die out.
"Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees, with a touch of grass frost and light northerly breezes."
