Met Eireann have warned of "severe frost" as temperatures are set to plummet to freezing this weekend.
Weather experts revealed the coldest conditions are expected on Saturday night, but added that it will remain cool throughout the weekend.
A forecaster said: "A cool, mostly dry and bright day on Saturday with sunny spells after early mist or fog clears.
"Chance of a few showers in the north. Winds light or moderate westerly or variable and afternoon highs of 7C to 9C.
"Cold and mainly dry on Saturday night with a widespread sharp to severe frost away from northern and northwestern coastal areas, and patchy mist or fog forming in light winds.
"Overnight lows will range from 0C to 3C.
"Sunday will be rather cool, dry and bright in most places, with frost, mist and fog clearing during the morning.
"Cloudier, though in Northern counties with showery outbreaks of rain developing.
"Highs of 8C to 10C with moderate west to northwest breezes, fresher along the north coast.
"Some frost in southern counties on Sunday night with temperatures falling close to freezing, but cloudier skies further north should prevent significant frost, but some patchy mist and fog may form."

The national forecaster added that conditions look set to improve in the week ahead, with highs of 13C expected, although there will be some patches of frost at night.
A forecaster revealed: "Mostly dry settled weather looks likely for the rest of the week with light winds and variable cloud, daytime highs of 11C to 13C, some frost by night when skies are clear.
"Some mist and fog patches overnight and in the early mornings also."
