Temperatures will soar to a sweltering 24C next week, but forecasters are warning it will stay largely cloudy with a risk of rain and even thunder.
Sunday will stay warm in most areas, with the best of the conditions expected in the north.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Largely dry today apart from a few patches of mist or drizzle.
"There will be varying amounts of cloud with the best of the sunshine expected in Ulster and north Leinster. Maximum temperatures ranging 17 to 21 degrees in mostly light breezes."
And the weather for the week ahead is set to stay warm but not particularly sunny, with showers and drizzle expected in many areas from Monday onwards.
A forecaster added: "Mostly cloudy and rather misty on Monday with patchy rain moving in from the Atlantic to affect parts of Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster.
"Staying largely dry elsewhere but with the odd shower possible. Top temperatures 17 to 20 degrees but a few degrees warmer in any sunnier interludes.
"There will be drizzle and mist in western and northern coastal areas on Tuesday but it will be predominantly dry elsewhere.
"A fair amount of cloud overall but sunny spells will develop, especially in the east of the country.
"Warm and humid with top temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees in light southwest breezes."
Wednesday will see a similar mix of cloud and rain, with brief sunny spells in the south and east of the country, and highs of 22 degrees.
And it will stay warm on Thursday, with temperatures hitting 23 degrees, but there will also be showers and a "heavy risk of thunder".
