Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann reveal dry, sunny week in store as temperatures set to hit 22C

Ireland is set for a dry, sunny week of weather with highs of 22C expected in the days ahead.

Forecasters are predicting conditions to remain relatively settled, with the warmest temperatures predicted as we get closer to the weekend.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Rather cloudy this morning with some showers. 

"Brighter and drier this afternoon and evening, with more in the way of sunny spells. Top temperatures 16 to 21C, best in south Munster and south Leinster.

"It will be breezy at first in fresh and gusty northwesterly winds, but winds moderating later.

"Mostly dry tonight, with clear spells. Fresh, lowest temperatures 6 to 10 C, in light to moderate north to northwest breezes.

"Mostly dry and bright on Tuesday with a mix of sunny spells and cloudy periods. 

"Top temperatures 16 to 20 C, best over Munster and south Leinster. Light to moderate northwest or variable breezes.

"Tuesday night is dry and mainly clear. Fresh, with lows of 6 to 10 C., in light to moderate northerly breezes."

Temperatures will hit 21C on Wednesday with some light breezes, before climbing even further as we approach the weekend.

A forecaster added: "Top temperatures of 17 to 19 C in northern areas on Thursday, but 20 to 22 C, elsewhere, best over Munster and south Leinster.

"Moderate northwest winds, but some local sea breezes also. Some light rain in northern areas overnight, but dry elsewhere. Mild, with lows of 10 to 12 C.

"Early indications suggest that northern areas will be cloudy on Friday, with possibly a little rain at times. Drier elsewhere, with occasional bright or sunny spells. 

"Highs of 16 to 18 C, in northern areas, but 19 to 22 C, elsewhere, best of all in southern coastal counties. Winds moderate to fresh northwesterly."
