Ireland will enjoy some "winter sunshine" on Tuesday - but the weather will remain cold.
Met Eireann is forecasting sunny spells while temperatures stay "cooler than normal".
After a bitterly cold night, many areas will see frost and fog patches on Tuesday morning.
Southern and western areas will become more cloudy during the evening. Highs will range from 6C to 9C.
A forecaster said: "A cold start to the day with frost and fog patches soon clearing.
"Spells of winter sunshine will develop fairly widely, but becoming cloudy across southern and western coastal counties later.
"Staying cooler than normal, with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, in mostly moderate southerly breezes, which will be stronger up along Atlantic coasts."
Rain will sweep in from the Atlantic overnight, before spreading to other areas by Wednesday morning.
It will be a lot milder than previous nights, with lows ranging from 4C to 8C.
The forecaster added: "Outbreaks of rain will affect Atlantic counties tonight, gradually moving into many other areas before morning.
"However, parts of the east will stay dry. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees, in mostly moderate southerly breezes, still stronger up along the Atlantic coastline."
