Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts wet and breezy day but some parts to see highs of 20C

A breezy Tuesday is in store for most of Ireland but some areas will get highs of 20C.

Met Eireann is forecasting a mostly dry day in southern and eastern counties in the morning.

Rain and drizzle is to fall in the rest of the country, with those showers becoming widespread in the afternoon. Highest temperatures will range from 16C to 20C.

A forecaster said: "Breezy today and mainly dry in the east and south at first, but dull and misty over western and northwestern areas, with some rain and drizzle, which will become more widespread in the afternoon.

"It will brighten up along the Atlantic Seaboard in the evening. Mild with top temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, in moderate to fresh southwest winds."

Scattered showers are expected to hit western counties overnight.

It will be a cool Tuesday night with temperatures ranging from 8C and 11C. Winds will become gusty along the west and northwest coasts.

A forecaster said: "Tonight will be mostly dry, but scattered showers will arrive in the west and northwest overnight.

"Lowest temperatures of 8 and 11 degrees. Moderate to fresh westerly winds will strengthen and become gusty along west and northwest coasts."
