Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts sunny Easter Sunday as mini-heatwave continues

Parts of Ireland will bask in 21C temperatures on Easter Sunday as a mini-heatwave continues.

Met Eireann initially predicted that temperatures will plummet Sunday and Monday.

However, the national forecaster now says large parts of the country will see highs of 20C or higher on Sunday - and Monday looks to be even warmer again.

It will be another warm day with hazy sunshine, but thicker clouds in western areas may bring some light rain.

A spokesperson said: "A warm day again in many areas with hazy sunshine after clearance of any fog.

Irish weather forecast: Hottest day of the year so far as Met Eireann says sweltering temperatures will continue

"However, thicker cloud over the western half of the country will produce a little patchy light rain or drizzle. There is also potential for sea fog to affect the south coast.

"Top temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees. Light to moderate southerly breezes will freshen along Atlantic coasts."

Sunday night should remain dry, with temperatures ranging between 7C and 10C.

A spokesperson said: "Generally dry tonight with clear spells. Fog may spread further inland overnight.

Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts scorching hot Good Friday with 23C temperatures

"Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light southerly breezes."

While Met Eireann last week said Monday will only see highs of 12C, it's now saying parts of Ireland can expect to experience temperatures of up to 22C.

A spokesperson said: "Warm and dry tomorrow in most areas with spells of sunshine. It may stay rather dull along south and southeast coasts with fog patches.

"Also a few isolated showers will develop in the afternoon and evening.

"Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees, but it will be cooler along south and southeast coasts with 14 to 17 degrees. Southeast winds will be mostly moderate."
