Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts mostly dry and sunny Wednesday with highs of 20C

Ireland is to enjoy a dry and bright Wednesday as high temperatures hit parts of the country.

Met Eireann is forecasting that the warmest conditions will hit the south, with parts of Cork to see highs of 20C this afternoon.

Areas in the east and south may get some rain in the morning, while parts of the north are to be hit with isolated showers in the evening. Highs will range from 16C to 20C.

A forecaster said: "Early rain in the south and east will clear quickly and today will be a bright and dry day in most places with variable cloud and good spells of sunshine.

"Isolated passing light showers may follow to northwest counties.

"Moderate southwest breezes. Highest temperatures 16 to 20 degrees - warmest in the south."

Wednesday night will be dry to start off, but rain will spread across the country from the west overnight.

Northern counties may get heavy showers, while southwest winds may bring gale gusts. Lowest temperatures will range from 11C to 14C.
