Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts mild day with highs of 18C before September sizzle hits

Ireland will enjoy a pleasant Tuesday, with highs of 18C - before a blast of warm weather hits later this week.

Met Eireann is forecasting a mixture of sunshine and patchy rain for most of the country this afternoon.

A forecaster said: "It will start dry today with spells of sunshine. However, cloud will steadily build during the day and rain will push in to affect parts of the west and northwest by late morning.

"The rain will then extend eastwards across the country during the afternoon and evening but it will turn increasingly light and patchy with many southern and eastern counties holding dry.

"Top temperatures will range from 15C to 18C degrees in freshening southwest winds."

A mild but windy Tuesday night is in store, with lowest temperatures ranging from 11C to 15C.

"Mild and windy tonight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing eastwards across the country.

"Minimum temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in strong and gusty southwest winds."

Meanwhile, the national forecaster is predicting mild and humid days - with sunny spells - towards the end of the week.

A forecaster said: "Outbreaks of rain across the country for a time on Thursday and feeling very mild and humid.

"However, the rain will ease during the afternoon and clear away to the east allowing drier, brighter and fresher weather to move in.

"Highest temperatures ranging 16 to 21 degrees, warmest in the southeast of the country. Winds will be fresh southerly at first, veering west to northwest later.

"Dry on Thursday night with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees."

The weather chiefs are expecting temperatures to rise to 21C on both Thursday and Sunday.

Friday and Saturday will see a mixture of cloud and sunshine, with both days staying relatively warm as highest temperatures are to reach 18C and 20C, respectively.
