A "hot and humid" Saturday is expected for large parts of the country, with highs of 21C to be recorded.

A forecaster said: "It looks set to be mostly dry on Saturday with spells of hazy sunshine.

"Showery rain will develop in the south and west overnight, extending to most areas later on.

"It will be humid overnight with lowest temperatures 11C to 14C."

Areas in the north and east are in for a sunny Sunday, but most places will experience a cloudy day.

Temperatures of up to 20C are to be recorded.

A forecaster added: "Current indications suggest it will be mostly cloudy on Sunday with showery rain.

"The best of any dry, bright weather is likely in the north and east of the country. Staying warm and humid with highs of 16C to 20C."
