Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predict warm week with highs of 21C - but it's not all good news

A mild and relatively dry week is in store with temperatures set to hit highs of 21C, it has been revealed.

However it's not all good news, as forecasters warn of occasional showers mixed with patches of sunshine.

The warmest weather will be found on Tuesday, but the sunny conditions will be tempered by some patchy rain and cloud in many areas.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Today will start dry in many areas. However, rain and drizzle in the west and north will spread to most areas this morning.

"Drier and brighter weather with sunny spells will develop later in the afternoon but it will stay quite dull and damp in the north.

"Highest temperatures of 15 to 19C, coolest in the northwest in moderate southwest winds.

"Tomorrow Tuesday will be largely dry with just patchy rain. Some sunshine will break through, but coastal areas of the west and south will remain quite dull.

"Warmer than today with highest temperatures of 17 to 21C in moderate or fresh westerly winds."

And it will stay warm for the remainder of the week, but there will still be patches of rain to accompany the dry and bright weather.

A forecaster added: "It looks set to be a bright and blustery day on Wednesday with good sunshine but also passing showers, some heavy in the north.

"Top temperatures of 14 to 18C in brisk northwest winds, with possibly gale force winds on north coasts.

"Thursday will probably be the driest day of the week with spells of sunshine.

"Highest temperatures of 17 to 20C in moderate westerly breezes. Rain will develop in the northwest on Thursday evening, spreading eastwards across the country overnight.

"Current indications suggest Friday will be a bright and blustery day with sunny spells and scattered showers.

"Highest temperatures of 14 to 18C in fresh northwest winds."
