Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predict warm and sunny weekend - but it's not all good news

A warm and sunny weekend is in store as temperatures continue to rise - but it's not all good news with more unsettled weather on the horizon.

The mild weather of the last few days will remain until at least the end of the week, but conditions will become more unsettled from Sunday onwards.

And Friday and Saturday will both be warm, dry and sunny in most areas, with highs of 22C and "long spells of sunshine" expected.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Today will be dry, warm and sunny. A southeast breeze will develop as the day goes on.

"Highest afternoon temperatures will be between 18 and 22C, a little lower on the east and south coasts.

"Tomorrow, Friday, will be dry and sunny with temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees and southeast winds freshening to become strong by the end of the day along the west coast.

"Saturday will start out dry and sunny but cloud will increase from the south with scattered outbreaks of rain developing as the day goes on, many places will have long dry spells.

"Temperatures remain higher than usual for the time of year and still reaching as high as 22 degrees in longer spells of sunshine."

And conditions will start to worsen from Sunday, with temperatures set to dip next week.

A forecaster added: "There'll be further showers or longer spells of rain on Sunday and it'll be warmest in the north of the country with the rain possibly turning heavier in the south and east.

"Winds will be mostly moderate east to southeast and the showery rain will mostly die out through the evening to give a mainly dry night.

"Monday will see a return to cooler conditions more typical for the time of year.

"There'll be a more persistent spell of rain introducing unsettled weather for the early days of next week."
