Good Friday saw Irish sun lovers flocking to beaches and parks as temperatures reached a scorching 23C yesterday and the sunshine looks set to continue today.
Met Eireann said yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far and even topped holiday destinations Lanzarote, Barcelona and Cape Town.
And today is set to be another scorcher for most areas, with highs of 19C to 22C on the way. However, places with thicker clouds are to only see peaks of 17C.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Fog and mist largely clearing this morning. Warm and dry generally, with hazy sunshine.
"However, staying rather cloudy and misty in west Connacht and west Ulster, with some light drizzle in coastal districts at times.
"Top temperatures there of 15C to 17C. Values elsewhere typically 19C to 22C, but fresher on coasts with onshore breezes or patches of sea mist. Light variable breezes will be moderate locally in sea breezes".
Meanwhile, Easter Sunday looks set to be a dry day in many areas, thickening cloud may well bring some drizzle to west Connacht and Donegal.
Highest temperatures are still expected to hit 18C to 20C, with cooler conditions in coastal areas.

People are advised to wear sun cream during the hot spell and take care while in the sea.
