Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann forecast 'widespread frost' with lows of -2C after Storm Brendan wreaks havoc nationwide

After Storm Brendan wreaked havoc across the country on Monday, conditions are expected to return to normal for the rest of the week.

Met Eireann have forecast calm weather nationwide this week as the country recovers from the storm.

After heavy downpours in Munster and Leinster on Tuesday morning, the country is set for more settled conditions.

But clearer conditions, with some scattered showers, will extend from the west on Tuesday afternoon with maximum temperatures ranging between 3C and 7C.

Wednesday will dawn cold and blustery, with sunny spells and scattered showers. The majority of showers will be confined to the west and temperatures are set to rise incrementally, with daytime highs of just 5C to 8C.

Conditions will be mostly cloudy on Thursday, with some heavy rain in the south and southwest.

Temperatures are again set to rise and will range between 8C and 11C, but there is a risk of frost overnight across the country.

Scattered showers are expected to return on Friday, which will be cold and bright otherwise.

Temperatures are expected to fall to between 4C and 7C, before plunging even further overnight.

Widespread frost is expected on Friday night with minimum temperatures ranging between -2C and 2C.

It will remain mostly dry over the weekend with maximum temperatures of 5C to 8C.

Frost is expected on Saturday night, mostly in Munster and Leinster, while scattered showers are forecast in the north and northwest on Saturday and Saturday night.
