Irish weather forecast: Ireland to enjoy 22C heat on hottest day of 2020 so far - here's how warm each county will be

Ireland will bask in temperatures of up to 22C on Friday - making it the hottest day of the year so far.

Although it will be cloudier than Wednesday and Thursday, Met Eireann is forecasting the warmest conditions of the week.

The day will start off bright with sunny spells for most areas, before clouds become widespread in the evening.

And the national forecaster has predicted there will be a spike in temperature at 3pm in the capital.

A Met Eireann spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "We look at several models to get the best forecasts and in Dublin there may be spots which will get 21C to 22C.

"But overall in Dublin top temperatures will range from 18C to 20C.

"And with that, it will be cooler on the coast in places such as Howth, but also it will be warmer in inland locations.

"Anywhere east of the Shannon could get temperatures of 19C to 20C, especially in Leinster and north Munster.

"But the west will be colder with highs of maybe just 13C to 15C, and possibly even as high as 17C down in Clare."

A general forecast on the Met Eireann website said: "Friday will be another warm day with some brighter interludes and hazy sunshine but cloudier than recent days.

"Some showery rain will develop in places, with the driest conditions persisting in the southeast.

"Top temperatures will range from 15C to 20C in light southerly or variable breezes."
