Irish weather forecast: Ireland to bask in highs of 18C this week - but it's not all good news

Ireland is set to bask in another warm week with highs of 18C - but it's not all good news.

It will be a glorious Bank Holiday Monday with more dry, sunny weather in most areas.

And while it will stay warm on Tuesday, it will turn cloudier with more outbreaks of rain, particularly in the south.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "After any early morning mist clears, today will be dry with good sunny spells. Highest temperatures will range from 12 or 13 degrees along eastern and northern coasts to 17 or 18 degrees in the midlands and west with light to moderate easterly breezes freshening this afternoon.

"Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells. It will become cloudy in the south with rain or drizzle developing along southern coasts overnight. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, coldest in the north with moderate to fresh easterly breezes.

"Tuesday will be dry over most of Ireland with sunny spells. However, it will be cloudier in Munster and south Leinster with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in southern coastal counties.

"Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in south Munster to between 16 and 18 degrees further north with fresh east to southeast breezes."

And there will be further rain on Wednesday, with a far more unsettled outlook for the rest of the week, although it will remain warm.

A forecaster added: "On Wednesday, showery rain in the south will extend further north, mainly affecting Munster, Connacht and south Leinster with north Leinster and Ulster staying mainly dry.

"Highest temperature of 14 to 18 degrees with moderate east to southeast breezes. On Wednesday night, rain will extend to the east and north.

"Thursday will start off cloudy in the east with rain. This will clear to the east. The afternoon will bring a mix of sunshine and showers to all areas.

"Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with moderate southerly breezes.

"Friday will bring sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with light variable breezes.

"Current indications indicate that there'll be sunshine and showers on Saturday and Sunday next, but that it will become noticeably cooler on Sunday as moderate winds become northerly in direction."
