Irish weather forecast: Ireland set for sunny and dry week as temperatures soar to 22C today

Ireland can expect a lot of sunshine next week as temperatures soar to 22C today.

Although Sunday and Monday will start off wet and cloudy, the days ahead are looking very bright.

Giving an overview for the next seven days, a Met Eireann forecaster said: "Some patchy rain at first but high pressure looks set to build in over Ireland next week bringing a period of dry and fine weather."

Meanwhile, temperatures will hit a sizzling 22C today in what could be one of the last hot days of the year.

But outbreaks of rain will move across Connacht and Ulster tonight, eventually bringing drizzle over Leinster, which will lead to a cloudy and damp day tomorrow.

The fprecaster said: "It will be cloudy and damp across the northern half of the country on Sunday with scattered outbreaks of rain with maximum temperatures ranging 12 to 15 degrees.

"It will be drier in southern areas but mostly cloudy with the odd patch of rain possible. Highest temperatures in the south ranging 16 to 19 degrees.

"Towards evening clearer conditions will move in across Ulster. Winds will be mostly light and variable.

"Patchy rain will affect the southern half of the country on Sunday night but drier and clearer weather will move in across northern areas."

While Monday will be very much the same as Sunday, Tuesday will see a dry day full of Autumn sunshine.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are all expected to be dry and sunny.
