Ireland is braced for heavy and persistent rain tomorrow with a risk of sleet and spot flooding.
It'll also be chilly with temperatures staying in single digits on Friday.
While today will be bright and dry, the weather is set to take a nasty turn just before the bank holiday weekend.
Thursday will see a mix of sunny spells and passing showers. The showers will affect the west and north early in the day but will extend to many areas during the afternoon with a few heavy bursts likely.
Moderate southwest winds will veer westerly and increase fresh and gusty in the north and northwest with highs of 9C to 12C.
The mercury will plunge to lows 0C tonight and tomorrow will feel decidedly cooler with highs of only 5C to 8C.
And the south and southeast will be lashed by heavy and "persistent" rain showers.
A forecaster said: "Rain will spread across the southern half of the country tomorrow morning.
"It will turn persistent and heavy in parts of the south and southeast with a chance of some sleet on higher ground and a risk of spot flooding.
"Parts of Ulster and Connacht will remain dry. Winds will be generally light variable, moderate northeasterly in the south and southwest."
And Met Eireann have predicted "frosty nights" and "bright crisp days" over the October Bank Holiday weekend.
A forecaster said: "Generally dry apart from a few coastal showers mainly in the north.
"The nights will be distinctly chilly with slight air and widespread sharp ground frosts, with the risk of icy patches."
Saturday will be a cold, bright day with good sunny spells. Most areas will be dry, but scattered rain or hail showers will affect the north and northwest. Moderate west to northwest winds and highest temperatures of 6C to 8C.
It'll be cold and frosty on Saturday night with lows dropping to freezing point or even a little lower in places.
