Irish weather forecast: Humid conditions with highs of 20C this weekend but 'widespread showers' to return next week

Music fans will be eagerly checking the forecasts ahead of some major events across the country this weekend.

The Spice Girls are set to take to the stage in Croke Park tonight while Life Festival takes place in Westmeath on Saturday and Sunday.

Dublin concertgoers have been advised that there will be "good sunny spells developing in the afternoon and evening but there is the risk of the odd heavy shower also".

Highest temperatures will range between 17C to 19C in mostly light breezes.

Meanwhile, the weekend is set to be humid with highs of 20C on Saturday but "widespread rain showers" will return on Monday.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Rather cloudy on Saturday but with occasional sunny interludes.

"There will be a few patches of light rain or drizzle, mainly affecting the western half of the country.

"A humid day with top temperatures ranging 16C to 20C in moderate southwesterly breezes."

Looking ahead to Sunday, they added: "Rain clearing quickly into the Irish Sea on Sunday morning to leave a bright and breezy day with sunny spells and a few passing showers.

"Highest temperatures of 15C to 18C in moderate to fresh westerly breezes. Clear spells and scattered showers overnight, some prolonged in the north. Lowest temperatures of 7C to 10C."

Monday looks set to be a gloomy day as forecasters say "widespread showers" will return to batter the country and we'll see a drop in temperatures also.

A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "Widespread showers on Monday, some heavy and prolonged.

"Feeling cooler with highs of 12C to 15C in blustery northwest winds. A cool night with a few passing showers and lows of 5C to 8C."
