Irish weather forecast: How warm each county will be as parts of Ireland to be hotter than Los Angeles

Ireland will be as hot as Los Angeles on Tuesday as temperatures are set to hit 21C.

And Met Eireann is predicting that some areas of the country will be even hotter than the US destination at times with brief highs of 22C or even 23C.

It will be a cloudy start to Tuesday with patchy drizzle in places, while the best early sunshine is expected in the south.

The weather chiefs are forecasting widespread sunshine in the afternoon, with highs ranging from 18C to 21C. However, some coastal areas will be much cooler.

A forecaster said: "Today will be rather cloudy and misty to start and there'll be a little patchy drizzle at times, the best of any sunshine in the morning will be in Munster.

"The sunnier weather will spread to the rest of the country during the afternoon. Afternoon temperatures will range to 18 to 21 degrees, the best where long spells of sunshine develop, and it will be cooler along coastal areas.

"Winds will be light to moderate from a southwest direction, becoming light variable later."

There will be a mix of cloud and sunshine in most places throughout the day.
