Irish weather forecast: Highs of 20C today but showers set to hit tomorrow

Today looks set to be another glorious spring day as Met Eireann predict dry conditions with "hazy sunshine."

Wednesday was the second warmest day of the week so far, with highs of 17C to 20C.

And today will see more sizzling sunshine with temperatures once again peaking at 17C to 20C.

However, coastal areas will see much lower figures of just 13C to 14C in onshore breezes.

The midlands and south-west look set to enjoy the best of the sunshine, while it will be noticeably cooler in Dublin.

Tonight will be dry with long clear spells and possibly some patches of mist and fog.

And it will feel much cooler than recent nights as the mercury falls to lows of 2C to 6C under clear skies in Leinster and Ulster, with cloud keeping temperatures a little milder in Munster and Connacht, lows of 4C to 8C here. Winds will be light variable.

Meanwhile, tomorrow is promising to be another mild day, with calm and mainly sunny conditions and highs of 17C to 20C.

However, cloud will build in the south and west through the day with showers developing in the afternoon, these showers will be heaviest and most frequent in Munster.

Met Eireann forecasters say it will become cloudier and cooler towards the weekend with temperatures returning to "near normal" next week.

Looking ahead to Saturday, a Met Eireann spokesperson said: "A mix of cloud and sunny spells. Most areas dry, but there will be scattered showers also, these most likely in the west."
