A bitterly cold night is in store as temperatures are set to plunge to below freezing.
Met Eireann is forecasting a chilly Thursday, with daytime highs of just 7C.
And a frosty night is expected as parts of Ireland are to experience temperatures as low as -2C.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy with some mist and fog patches, but it should be dry and calm.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Rain and drizzle quickly clearing into the Irish Sea this morning.
"Otherwise it will be mainly dry and calm, with some frosty conditions this morning.
"Today will be rather cloudy with some mist and patchy fog lingering for a time, but brighter spells will gradually break through as the day goes on.
"Scattered showers will arrive along Atlantic coasts in strengthening northwest winds towards evening. Cool, with daytime highs of 4 to 7 degrees."
The odd isolated shower may hit on what is expected to be a dry, but cold Thursday night.

Frost and icy patches may form, while the east will be the coldest part of the country.
The forecaster added: "Cold at night and mainly dry except for the odd isolated shower.
"There will be a lot of clear weather with frost and icy patches developing as temperatures drop back to between -2 and +2 degrees, coldest in the eastern half of the country.
"Moderate northwest winds will become light overnight with some mist and fog patches forming."
