Irish weather forecast: Flooding expected in parts as Status Orange and Status Yellow rain warnings remain in place

Flooding in parts of the country is expected after Met Eireann issued a Status Orange weather warning as heavy rain continues.

The caution is valid for Tipperary and Waterford since 3pm yesterday until 6pm today.

Met Eireann warned: "Heavy rain during the period will cause spot flooding. Accumulations in excess of 50mm possible in some parts."

A Status Yellow alert for Kilkenny, Wexford and Cork is also in place until 6pm today.

A Met Eireann spokesman said: “Rain will be heaviest over Munster and south Leinster."
