Irish weather forecast: Enjoy the sunny weekend while it lasts as Met Eireann warns of coming unsettled, rainy days next week

Enjoy the warm weather this Sunday as the rain is set for a return next week.

Met Eireann's forecast for the coming days states that while today should reach up to 25 degrees in dry and sunny conditions, rain showers will pepper Ireland each day in the week ahead.

The meteorological service said that today will be a dry and sunny day, with just a few clouds forming over the eastern half of the country in light northeast to easterly breezes.

It will be very warm with top temperatures reaching 20 to 25 degrees, coolest along the eastern and northern coasts in onshore breezes, forecasters said.

Tonight will be much the same, dry with good clear spells and lowest temperatures of eight to 12 degrees, mildest in the west.

Winds will be light east to southeasterly with some mist patches forming towards dawn.

Monday will continue to be warm and will start mostly dry, but cloud will increase with scattered showers in the south and west and just isolated showers elsewhere.

There will be top temperatures of 20 to 23 degrees in light to moderate southerly breezes.

After that though, things take a bit of a turn for the worse.

Met Eireann's summary for next week reads as follows:

"Turning unsettled with showery conditions on Tuesday followed by a spell of rain on Wednesday clearing again to scattered showers on Thursday and Friday.

"There will be a few showers on Monday night. It will be mild with lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in light southerly or variable breezes.

"There will be scattered showers on Tuesday with the odd heavy one and some bright or sunny spells. Top temperatures will reach 19 to 22 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

"Showers will become isolated on Tuesday night. Becoming cloudy with outbreaks of rain spreading into Atlantic coastal counties towards morning. It will stay mild with lowest temperatures around 11 to 14 degrees in light southwest to westerly breezes backing southerly towards morning.

"Wednesday will be a cloudy day with rain in the west spreading gradually further eastwards during the day in a moderate southerly breeze, fresh and gusty along Atlantic coasts. The rain will turn persistent in the afternoon and evening, especially in the west and northwest. Top temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees, coolest in the northwest.

"Wednesday night rain will clear eastwards to isolated showers and some clear spells.

"Thursday will see some sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy or prolonged in the north. Top temperatures will be around 17 to 20 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze. Thursday night showers will become isolated.

"Friday is likely to continue unsettled with scattered showers and top temperatures in the high teens."
