Irish weather forecast: Deluge of 'heavy widespread' rain to lash Ireland tomorrow night

Forecasters have warned of “unsettled and changeable” conditions as heavy showers are set to hit Ireland today and tomorrow.

And a deluge of rain is due to lash the country tomorrow night.

There'll be sunny spells with showers today, these will be most frequent and heaviest in the afternoon as they move in a line across the northern half of the country.

Winds will be light variable in the morning then become moderate westerly by afternoon, fresh by evening.

It will be warmest in the south today with highs of 22C.

But Met Eireann said: “Scattered outbreaks of drizzle or light rain will affect parts during the morning.

“Showers will develop widely during the afternoon and evening, especially across the midlands and north where some may be heavy or thundery.”

Tomorrow will start off dry with just isolated showers. Highest temperatures will once again range from 19C to 22C north to south and winds will be light to moderate westerly, backing southwesterly later as cloud thickens in the west, bringing rain towards late evening.

And bring your brolly if you're heading out tomorrow night as heavy rain will begin to spread from the west.

A forecaster said: "Becoming widespread and heavy as it moves eastwards over the country.

"Lowest temperatures will range 11C to 13C with freshening southwest to south winds."

Heading into Friday, there will be heavy rain in the morning for a time in the south of the country before slowly clearing eastwards.

It will be followed by sunny spells and scattered showers while temperatures will remain relatively unchanged with fresh southwest winds.
