Irish weather forecast: Cloudy and drizzly conditions today but temperatures to soar to 20C tomorrow

Today will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle but it's not all bad news as the mercury will soar to highs of 20C tomorrow.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "This morning, outbreaks of rain or drizzle will affect the western half of the country and parts of South Ulster. Amounts will be small.

"This afternoon and evening will become mainly dry as rain or drizzle mostly die out.

"Highest temperatures of 14C to 17C with light breezes."

Looking ahead to tomorrow, it will start off mostly cloudy with patchy mist and drizzle.

It will gradually brighten up with sunny spells developing. A few showers will develop in Leinster in the late afternoon and evening.

Friday will be a warmer day with highest temperatures of 16C to 20C and mostly light west to northwest breezes.

The outlook for the next few days is for mild conditions up to Saturday with highs of 20C expected again and only small amounts of rain.

Saturday will be quite cloudy, however, there will be some bright spells will develop during the afternoon and evening in many inland areas.

Many Atlantic coastal areas will remain dull and misty. Quite warm in any bright spells, with maximum temperatures of 16C to 20C.

However, it is expected to become unsettled from Sunday with cooler conditions creeping in next week.

A forecaster said: "Temperatures will fall gradually from Sunday onwards and it will remain unsettled, with the possibility of higher amounts of rain at times."
