Irish weather forecast: 25C highs on the way as Met Eireann posts seven-day forecast

Ireland will see scorching weather this weekend as a mini-heatwave brings 25C temperatures.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday will see mostly sunny spells, but Friday will be hit with rain at times.

Here's how things look for the next couple of days:

Friday

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Friday will be mainly dry with sunny spells.

"Some scattered showers will develop in north Connacht and Ulster and will move into east Ulster and north Leinster later in the day.

"Highest temperatures of 16C to 22C, in moderate northwest breezes."

The national forecaster is expecting high pressure to "dominate the weather over the weekend".

Temperatures will soar on Sunday (Collins)

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday will be dry and sunny, with highs of 21C. Sunday will be a scorcher as temperatures soar to the mid-20s.

"So Saturday and Sunday will both be dry with sunny spells," the forecaster said.

"For Saturday, temperatures will reach between 17C and 21C with light northerly breezes.

"Sunday will be warmer with values ranging from 20C to 25C and mainly easterly breezes."

Monday

Monday will be as warm, but showers will move up the country from the south in the evening.

The Met Eireann forecaster added: "Monday will be warm also with highest temperatures of 21C to 25C.

"Much of the day will be dry. However through the evening showers or longer spells of rain will move up from the south."

Tuesday

But the weather is set to take a turn on Tuesday, as some areas experience thunderstorms and flooding.

Tuesday will be a very showery day. Some of the showers will be heavy with a risk of thunder and spot flooding.

It will be cooler also with highest temperatures of 17C to 20C and mostly light east to southeast breezes.

Wednesday

There will be a mix of sunshine and showers on Wednesday, with highs ranging from 18C to 21C.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday will be showery, but the dry conditions should return on Friday.

The forecaster said: "Current indications suggest that Thursday next will bring further showers with drier weather following on Friday."
