Irish TikTok user goes viral after convincing his friends to believe outrageous lies

An Irishman has gone viral on TikTok after he managed to convince his friends that some absolutely outrageous lies were in fact true.

Joe Costigan has racked up almost a million likes on the popular social media app after he decided to see how gullible his friends were.

As it turns out, they are very, very gullible.

Costigan cleverly weaved together a number of lies involving a random celebrity.

First up, it was that Adele had retrained to be a nurse during the pandemic.

Then, it was that Ed Sheeran had sold his stakes in gay dating app Grindr.

And last but not least, his friends were informed of the devastating news that Adam Sandler would not be returning for season two of the hit show Euphoria, having written and directed the first season.

All of which was complete and utter waffle - but his friends all bought it hook line and sinker!

Joe got some famous fans as a result of the viral clip.

Too Hot To Handle star Francesca Farago called on him to do "more please" - which Joe has since done in a follow-up clip here.

Another user noted that Costigan's tactic of adding the minor details made him "so believable".

While a third regaled one of their own extravagant lies.

"Once told my sister there was a fourth Hemsworth brother - but he died in a speedboat accident because I felt like it!"

The 19-year-old's clip has been viewed almost four million times and has seen his follower count on the app rocket skywards.

But we hear he's been lined up to star in the next James Bond movie after a recommendation from former Irish 007 Pierce Brosnan!
