Irish Tesco customer leaves people in stitches after being 'caught out' by Facebook joke

An Irish Tesco customer was caught out after their joke on a local Facebook group was taken literally.

Admin of the local Ballincollig Community HUB Mags McKenna shared a joke with the group - but not everybody caught it.

The confusion began when messer Mags shared a classic "broken TV going for cheap in Tesco" post on the page, Cork Beo reports.

Mags wrote: "OMG!!! Can't believe Tesco are selling 55" Samsung TVs for €49.99 only because there's a fault with the volume button! At that price you can't turn it down!"

The post got a great reaction, but there were some few who seemed to miss the punchline and next thing Mags knew she was landed in it.

She posted an apology on Friday morning after hearing someone actually went to Tesco and was asking staff about the cheap defective TV.

She said: "Folks I'm so sorry regards the joke I posted earlier.

A friend of mine who works in Tesco just text to say they had a customer in asking about the defective 55inch Samsung TV for €49.99.

"And no that's not a joke.

"Apologies to anyone I caught out."

Another person asked her "are you advertising because you love Tesco? Or are you advertising because you and your family make some profit and we're all dumb enough to fall for this! Just who is running this page and why?"

Despite it coming at poor Mag's expense Ballincollig locals were howling at the confusion saying the aftermath was much funnier than the joke itself.

Elain O'Brien replied saying: "Waaay too funny, Thank you for the chuckle it gave me a laugh."

Adam McCarthy asked: "Do these people know that gullible isn't in the dictionary?"

Sadly there's no cheap TVs going in their local Tesco, and although it sounds like one or two people could do with a switch-on.
