Irish teenager tragically dies after falling ill at secondary school in Co Kildare

A teenager has tragically died after falling ill at a secondary school in Co Kildare.

The boy, 15, was taken to hospital after feeling unwell in the school's gymnasium.

The pupil was brought to Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardai confirmed to the Irish Mirror that an investigation into the death is underway.

A spokeswoman said: "Gardai are investigating the sudden death of a 15 year old male that occurred in a gymnasium at a local school in Clane, Co Kildare on Tuesday 3rd of September.

"After becoming unwell he was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital where he passed away in the afternoon.

"A post-mortem is due to take place which will determine the course of the investigation."
