An Irish student's tweet about the army escorting her to a Covid test centre has gone viral.
University College Cork student Beth O’Reilly this week was identified as a close contact of a confirmed case but had no way of getting to the test centre in Blackpool, Cork Beo reports.
Speaking to CorkBeo, Beth said: “I was a bit shocked then when I got a call on Monday from the army barracks to say that they were getting the minibus ready to come and collect me.”
What followed was even more hilarious - their tweet about the situation completely blew up and now has almost 60,000 likes.
They tweeted: “Awh lads I'm so embarrassed, I couldn't sort out a lift to the COVID test so I said that I was unable to attend due to transport reasons and now the ARMY is picking me up from my flat to take me there.”
Sure enough, just a few hours later the men in green arrived to collect Beth.

“So yeah, a big green army minibus arrives outside my flat and two uniformed officers let me into the back of it,” she said.
Beth was then privately escorted to the test centre where they were tested on board the bus, before being dropped home again.
“As I was getting out of the army mini bus, led by the army, all my neighbours were peering out their windows!” they laughed.
“It was all very safe though and it was so handy to be honest. I was really panicking about how I was going to get to the centre, so I’m really grateful.”
Beth is now awaiting the results of their test, while correcting numerous twitter users who all happen to assume that they're British.
“People keep replying saying this is why the British Army is so great and I’m just like ‘err I’m not from England’,” they laughed.
