Irish star Shahira Barry claims Galway accent has stopped her from getting acting roles in Los Angeles

Shahira Barry has claimed that her Irish accent has cost her from getting roles while working in LA.

The popular influencer has been living in Hollywood for the last five years and has appeared in flicks such as Ted 2, while she has also worked as Kim Kardashian’s body double.

Despite her relative career success to date, the Galway woman says she has not always found it easy to find work - partially due to her thick Irish accent.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, she said: "Acting in LA is proving pretty difficult when you still have an Irish accent. I find turning off my natural accent very difficult to do.

“However, I am still on the casting and audition merry-go-round.

“I audition a couple of times every week and I’m hopeful that the right role will come along.”

Despite these minor difficulties, Shahira says she is enjoying her newfound lifestyle in LA and has recently given up booze.

She added: "I wanted to give up for the longest time, literally years, and I must have said it about 1,000 times before I actually did it!

“I was definitely the type who would drink on a night out and the next day regret it and be like, ‘Whyyyy... I’m never drinking again!!!’ But then the next event would roll around and it would be the same thing."
